Moissanite diamond simulant stones are man-made stones which have a different chemical structure than that of a natural diamond composed of carbon. Just like a natural diamond, they come in different grades of quality and at Harper Jewellery we only procure the highest grade of moissanite stones which possess the purest form of silicon carbide. Its affordability, durability and impressive visual likeness to a real diamond has made our moissanite stones an unparalleled competitor to natural diamonds.

Colour and clarity are critical indicators of a diamond’s value and what you would consider when choosing your perfect stone. Ideally you would like a diamond which is near colourless, keeping in mind the less colour a diamond has the more valuable and rarer the stone is. The second factor, clarity, is the relative absence of a naturally mined diamond’s internal flaws (inclusions) and external irregularities (blemishes). Naturally mined diamonds with minimal inclusions and blemishes are extremely rare, and therefore are very extremely costly.

In terms of its density, moissanite stones are approximately 15% less dense than natural diamonds. Therefore a natural diamond and a moissanite of the same size will not be of the same carat (weight). For example, a 1.00 carat moissanite moissanite would be larger in size than a 1.00 carat mined diamond. For easy reference, to denote our moissanite size we have measured the stones to approximate the equivalent diamond carat weight.
